If you want to buy Red Sox tickets obviously you will want to end up watching them play at the famous Fenway Park. The legends that went on to make Red Sox a household name are too well known to be forgotten, but to mention them again would be only just. They include the famous Carl Yastrzemski, Harry Hooper, Joe Cronin, Duffy Lewis, Jimmy Collins, Cy Young, Jimmie Foxx and many more. It is not surprising that these greats have played for the Red Sox here at Fenway Park considering that Fenway Park has a history that goes back to 1912!
The Red Sox was purchased by Henry Taylor in 1904. The team was then known as the Pilgrims. Henry changed the name to the Red Sox in 1907. Soon after, Henry announced that he was building a new stadium for his team. This new stadium was christened the Fenway Park and by early 1912, Fenway Park was finally ready. Fans have since then thronged to buy Red Sox tickets – both for the quality of the game and the Stadium.
Fernway Park hosted their first official game on 10th April 1912. The event was overshadowed, as many will remember, by the sinking of the Titanic, just a few days earlier, yet there was no shortage of fans queuing up to buy Red Sox tickets. Practically every major team of repute has gone through this lovely baseball-only stadium at some or the other point in time.
It is not as if the park did not have its share of bad luck. Surprisingly, there have been two major fires in its past. The first of these was in 1926 when the bleachers along the left field line were burnt down and the other was in 1934 when practically the entire building was devastated in a fire that raged for five hours.
Fortunately, its new owner, Tom Yawkey had the foresight to use the fire to carry out a major reconstruction and that is what has gone on to make the Fenway Park what it is today. Tom replaced the wooden structures with concrete and put up a wall reaching as high as 37 feet to prevent people from watching the games without paying. You got to buy tickets to see them play – there is no getting around it friend!
