The city of Philadelphia is known for its love for baseball. The Philadelphia Phillies came into existence in 1883. Presently the Phillies are the oldest continuous one-city and one-name franchise in professional sports. The Phillies have had an astounding 32 Hall of Fame players. Mike Schmidt, winner of three MVP titles, and Steve Carlton, four times Cy Young Award winner, are two of the most prominent names featuring in the Hall of Fame players for the Phillies.

First World Series Title

Fans of Phillies had to wait till 1980 to see their team win their first World Series title. Fans with Phillies tickets saw Tug McGraw record the final out in the World Series and saw the Phillies beat Kansas City Royals to take the World Series. Carlton and Schmidt were the stars of the game. Carlton left the Phillies in 1986, while Schmidt retired in 1989.

Phillies tickets were very popular even though the 1990s were not good for them. In 1993, the Phillies went to the World Series; however, there was nothing much to remember.

Citizens Bank Park

From 1971 to 2003, the Philadelphia Phillies played their home games at the Veterans Stadium. It was a multi-purpose stadium that they shared with the NFL’s Eagles. Phillies tickets to the Vets were always in high demand. In 2004, Phillies moved to their new home ground- Citizens Bank Park. It is a baseball only stadium and can seat upto 43,500 baseball fans. It offers a very cozy setting.

The Philadelphia Phillies play in the National League East Division. New York Mets, Washington Nationals, Florida Marlins and Atlanta Braves are some of the other teams in the East Division of the National League. In the 2008 season, they would be playing against Toronto Blue Jays, Washington Nationals, Cincinnati Reds, and New York Mets in March and April.

2008 season would be their 126th season. With Charlie Manuel as their manager, the Phillies are hoping to win the World Series. They have players like Cole Hamels, Myers, Jamie Moyer, and Kyle Kendrick on their roaster. They have also included J.C Romero, Brad Lidge, and Ryan Madson and if they remain free of injuries, the Phillies will do great. With a great 2007 season, Phillies have what it takes to win another NL division title and another World Series championship.
