All football fans out there know that the Eagles are a force to reckon with. During the Second World War, the Eagles and the Steelers had to merge temporarily due to a shortage of players and were known as the Phil-Pitt Steagles only for the 1943 season.

In 1948 they won their first NFL Championship over the Chicago Cardinals and repeated the feat the next year when they defeated the Los Angeles Rams. Their third NFL title was attained in 1960 under Norm Van Brocklin and Chuck Bednarik. They beat the Green Bay Packers, 17-13.

The Eagles have been at their best since 2000 onwards under head coach Andy Reid. They won the NFC East Division Championships four years in a row from 2001 to 2004. After losing the next year, they came back to win it again in 2006. The also made it to Super Bowl XXXIX in 2004. They had to face the reigning champions the New England Patriots. The Patriots eventually won the game on a close score of 24-21.

The Eagles have shown their philanthropic side too. They launched the Eagles Fly For Leukemia organization as a support group for their player Fred Hill whose daughter Kim was diagnosed with leukemia. Since then it has become a large charitable organization, separate from the Eagles who still support it.

They also started the first Ronald McDonald House to provide shelter to families with sick children. There are now over 200 such shelters all over the world.

Another association the Eagles started was the Eagles Youth Partnership which provides mobile eye care and book units for children from low income families.
