How To Get NBA Tickets

The sport was founded in 1946 as the Basketball Association of America by the owners of major sports arenas in Northern America. In 1949, the BAA was renamed the National Basketball Association after it merged with the National Basketball League. NBA tickets began to sell like crazy from here on out.

When the National Basketball Association started in 1946, it had eleven teams. It slowly expanded and currently has 30 teams, one in Canada and 29 in U.S.A. It is now the world’s premier men’s basketball league. The most successful National Basketball Association team is the Boston Celtics with 16 Finals wins. The reigning Champions are the Miami Heat who incidentally won their first title in 2006.

The National Basketball Association Season

The regular season starts in November. Each team plays 82 games, half of which are played at home and half away. In February, there’s a break when the NBA All-Star Game is played. Fans in the U.S. vote for the starting players in each conference and the team coaches choose the remaining 14 players. In the All-Star Game, the players from the Western Conference play against the players from the Eastern Conference. The best performing player even gets the Most Valuable Player award.

In the All-Star break, there are other attractions such as the Rookie Challenge game, the Skills Challenge, three Point Contest and the Slam Dunk Contest.

The regular season ends in April. The then votes for certain prestigious awards to be given to certain players. There is a Rookie of the Year award, a Most Improved Player award and a Most Valuable Player award. Two awards for non players are the Coach of the Year award and the Executive of the Year award.

The Playoffs

After the end of the regular season in April, the playoffs begin. The top eight teams from each conference qualify for the playoffs. The playoffs follow a tournament schedule and in the end there is only one team left in each conference. These two teams then face each other in the Finals which is a best of seven series. The ultimate winner gets the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. The team with the maximum Finals wins is the Boston Celtics with 16 titles. The reigning Champions are the Miami Heat, for which it is the first.

In 1996 the National Basketball Association started a women’s basketball league called the Women’s National Basketball Association. In the 1990’s the National Basketball Association became more global by hiring players from all over the world, such as Hakeem Olajuwon from Nigeria. The Olympic Dream Team in 1992 was very famous as it comprised of some of NBA’s best, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. Incidentally, Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls, Johnson for the Los Angeles Lakers and Bird played for the Boston Celtics.
