The Vikings play in the North Division of the National Football Conference in the National Football League. The team was founded in 1961 as an expansion team of the NFL. They reached the Super Bowl yet again in 1973 but this time they lost to the Miami Dolphins. They lost the Super Bowl again the next year to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Vikings reached their fourth Super Bowl in 1977 but they were unable to break their jinx and lost yet again to the Oakland Raiders. The first game that the Vikings played at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome was against the Seattle Seahawks on August 21st 1982, which the Vikings won. The Minnesota Vikings are currently owned by Zygi Wilf, Mark Wilf and Leonard Wilf. Their Head Coach is Brad Childress. The team mascot is Ragnar, possibly the only mascot who does not wear a mask or any kind of gear that covers his head. He drives into the field on a motorcycle or snowmobile, before the game starts, dressed as a Viking. The Vikings have retired six jersey numbers including Jim Marshall #70, Cris Carter #80 and Alan Page #88. They also have a Ring of Honor which includes the above as well as others such as Carl Eller, Head Coach Bud Grant and Head Coach Jerry Burns.
