Their head coach was then Mike Holmgren and quarterback was Brett Favre. Under Favre they advanced to the Super Bowl in 1996 after a gap of 29 years. They beat the New England Patriots to win their 12th World Championship which is a NFL record. The 1996 Packers were ranked as the sixth greatest team to have played in the Super Bowl. The next year they lost to the Denver Broncos in what was considered one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history. The Packers are a public owned company with a board of directors.
