Watching an ice hockey game, especially with Capitals hockey tickets, has always been a wonderful experience. The Washington Capitals are a professional ice hockey team in the United States of America. The franchise club is the member of the National Hockey League (NHL). They play in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference. Founded in 1974, the team is based in Washington, D.C..

Winning Combo

During the last two decades, the team has been performing well after the disappointments during the initial years of their inception. They won the only conference chamionship in 1997-98. However, they have won the Division Championships three times, including 1988-89, 1999-00, and 2000-01. Besides that, the team has also won the Prince of Wales Trophy once. That was in the year 1997-98. Check out the event calendar and book your Capitals hockey tickets now.

Lost Chances

In 1999, the Capitals missed the playoffs due to numerous injuries. The Capitals were favorites during the 1993-playoff series with the New York Islanders, but unfortunately, they were upset in six games. If we talk about the last seven seasons, the team could qualify for the playoffs only once. That was for the season 2002-03, when the team lost in Conference Quarterfinals by 2-4 against Lighting.

Franchise Top Scoring Leaders

The top-ten point-scorers in franchise history include Kevin Hatcher, Scott Stevens, Dennis Maruk, Calle Johansson, Mike Ridley, Bengt-Ake Gustafsson, Dale Hunter, Michal Pivonka, Mike Gartner, and Peter Bondra. It will be a great idea to celebrate this festive season by booking Capital hockey Tickets.

Hockey Hall Of Fame

The Capitals have four former players in the Hockey Hall of Fame. These players include Right wing Mike Gartner (inducted in 2001), defenseman Rod Langway (inducted in 2002), defenseman Larry Murphy (inducted in 2004), and defenseman Scott Stevens (inducted in 2007).

Retired Numbers

The Capitals have retired three numbers so far. Defenseman Yvon Labre's number 7 was retired in 1980. Defenseman Rod Langway’s number 5 was retired in 1997. Center Dale Hunter's number 32 was retired in 2007.

Verizon Center

Verizon Center is the home stadium of the Washington Capitals. It is a sports and entertainment arena and is located in 601 F Street, NW, Washington, D.C. The ground was opened on December 2, 1997. The stadium was formerly MCI Center until March 5, 2006. The present name of the stadium was named after telecommunications sponsor Verizon Communications. Interestingly, there is also a nickname of the arena - "Phone Booth".

As per the maximum capacity of the Verizon Center, a maximum of 18,672 Capitals hockey tickets can be accommodated. However, for a basketball game, the maximum capacity is 20,173.

At present, there are three tenants of the Verizon Center. One is of course our Washington Capitals (NHL). The other two teams include Washington Wizards (NBA) (1997-present) and Washington Mystics (WNBA) (1998-present).

Verizon Center Reality Byte

This sports arena sits atop the Gallery Place-Chinatown station on the Red, Yellow, and Green lines of the Washington Metro. In the stadium, Chris Rock filmed a brief scene in his 2003 comedy Head of State.
